Ceiling Fan Installation in Orem, UT, Same Day and Wobble-Free
A ceiling fan makes a room feel several degrees cooler in July and helps push warm air down in January. Our Orem electricians install fans on fan-rated boxes, balance the blades and wire them to the controls you want. Replacing an old fan or light is often a same day job. For a ceiling fan installation emergency, call a local electrician near you who answers 24 hours a day.

Why fans need more than a light box
A fan is heavy and it moves. A box made for a light fixture can loosen over time, causing wobble, noise and, in the worst case, a falling fan.
- We replace standard boxes with fan-rated boxes or braces.
- We fasten the bracket to solid framing.
- We balance the blades so the fan runs smooth and quiet.
Moving from a light to a fan? We may also add a separate wall control so the light and fan work independently.
Picking the right fan size
A fan that is too small barely moves air. Too big feels like a wind tunnel. This general guide helps.
| Room size | Typical blade span | Example rooms |
|---|---|---|
| Up to about 75 sq ft | 29 to 36 inches | Small offices, laundry rooms |
| About 76 to 144 sq ft | 36 to 42 inches | Bedrooms, dens |
| About 144 to 225 sq ft | 44 to 52 inches | Primary bedrooms, family rooms |
| About 225 to 400 sq ft | 52 to 60 inches | Great rooms, open living areas |
| Larger spaces | 60 inches or more, or two fans | Vaulted great rooms, patios |
Check the manufacturer's guidance too. Ceiling height and room shape matter.

Ceiling fan installation questions
Can you install a ceiling fan where a light is now?
Usually yes. We replace the box with a fan-rated box and connect the fan to the existing switch or a new control.
Why does my ceiling fan wobble?
Wobble often comes from a loose mount, a non-fan box or unbalanced blades. We fix the mount and balance the blades.
Can you install a fan on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. We use the right downrod and an angled mount kit for vaulted ceilings.
Can the fan and light work on separate switches?
Yes. If the wiring allows, we add a dual control. If not, we can add wiring or use a remote.
What size ceiling fan do I need?
Most bedrooms use 42 to 52 inch fans. Large living rooms often need 52 to 60 inches or more.
Which way should my fan spin in winter?
Clockwise on a low speed. It gently pushes warm air from the ceiling back down.
