Older GE load centers, handled with care

GE Panel Repair and Same Day Breaker Service in Orem, UT

Many Orem homes from the 1960s through the 1980s still run on GE load centers. GE's electrical distribution business is now part of ABB, but millions of GE panels remain in use. Our licensed Orem electricians inspect them, install correct THQL breakers or recommend replacement, with same day service and a 24 hour line. For GE emergencies, we send an electrician near you as fast as we can.

Identifying a GE panel

  • Look for General Electric or GE on the door label.
  • Breakers are usually the THQL family, with the amps on the handle.
  • Older GE panels may have aluminum bus bars and years of add-on work.

Age matters more than brand. A 40-year-old panel deserves a careful look.

GE questions

Many GE panels are fine if they are in good condition. Age, heat, rust and overcrowding matter. An inspection tells you.

Can I still get GE breakers?

Common THQL breakers are still available. Some older types are harder to find.

Who owns GE electrical panels now?

GE's electrical distribution business is now part of ABB.

Should I replace my old GE panel?

If it is old, full or showing heat or rust, replacement is often the better value.

Do you replace GE fuse panels?

Yes, with a modern breaker panel, permit and utility coordination.

Have an older GE panel?

We will check it and tell you honestly whether to repair or replace.
